Most people that know me know that I LOVE CHILDREN, I LOVE READING, AND I LOVE HELPING OTHERS ;)! Working for Habitat for Humanity allows me to give back on a daily basis, and I am always thankful. However, I wanted to do something a little more...something I don't get paid for...something that would allow me to be a volunteer ;)!
About a month ago a lady from Read To Succeed came and spoke at our Junior League meeting. She mentioned that schools are always looking for volunteers to come read to their classroom or help children with various schools. Reading? Children? Um, YES sign me up!!! The next day I called RTS and they connected me to a school that is right across from my office. Perfect!
So, this morning I went to the school, met Ms. M, and E! E is the 2nd grade student that I am going to be working with every Thursday from 10:00 - 10:30 ;). I will be reading to him, helping him recognize his numbers and alphabets, and any other lesson he is struggling with. As I sat down and introduced myself to E, I felt the tears welling up in my eyes. I could tell right away he was shy but has a heart of gold!
I am so looking forward to being a part of E's life and helping him! I am sure I will be posting more about E in the upcoming weeks. Would you mind saying a prayer for me and E? I want to be the best I can for this little guy ;)!
Also, can you please pray for Vance? The HMFD is going around Rutherford County and I am praying he does not catch it ;)!

I am SO excited for you!!! I can't wait to hear all about your experiences with E!!! You have a kindest heart and the most generous soul! LOVE YOU!
How great is that. That just about made me cry thinking of you reading and helping little E. It is so wonderful to be involved in the life of a child. What amazing things you will get to experience and how blessed is this child going to be to reap the benefits of your time. I can't wait to hear more about your time with E.
MY SIL is involved in this same kind of program where we used to live. What a great experience it will be for you, and little E!
I love it!!!! You will probably be the highlight of E's day!!!! What a great way to volunteer!
This sounds absolutely fabulous! They have something similar to that in OKC area called Whiz Kids. I've been contemplating trying to fit that into my work schedule. I'm so glad your heart was blessed.
Your house is really taking shape. I cannot wait to see the inside and the furniture!!
Awww...you are so sweet. I know that special time each week is going to be so rewarding for you and for E!! I will be praying for both of you. You will love working with him I'm sure!
You have such a servant's heart. That is one of the things I love about you most. Seriously. You make me want to be a better person. I will pray for you and E and I will pray for Vance. That had come around Evan's preschool before and luckily he didn't catch it, so maybe Vance will escape it, too.
That little boy's life will never be the same once he has spent time with you. You are amazing!
