A Rake, A Few Words, and A Game

As you know, I work for Rutherford County Habitat for Humanity, and I LOVE MY JOB!!! I never know from day to day what type of people I will meet and how they will affect my life. On Wednesday, our entire staff headed up to LaVergne to meet one of our new Partner Families. We all met them at the lot where their future home will be...oh the joy on their faces. The family is a mother and daughter with a deep love for the Lord. They purchased a rake many months ago in hopes that their prayers of land, a home, and a new life would be answered. They are definitely women of devoted faith. After we showed them the lot, we took them to a local Starbucks so they could choose their house plan, exterior color, shutters, and roof. As we sat there in the little coffee shop, I could feel the eyes of the other customers on us. Who are those people? What are they doing? They look so happy and at peace! I could feel the Lord right there with us, and I felt so privledged to be a part of this family's joy.

Speaking of family...my husband and son are AMAZING and SO HILARIOUS! We had just sat down last night to relax, cuddle, and hum sweet Vance to sleep. He was almost in his "happy place" when he popped up and began "talking" to Web and I. Our soon to be one year old son was in deep, deep conversation...facial expressions, voice fluctuations, hand gestures, the whole nine yards. It was so funny! Web and I laughed for a good ten minutes, and then Vance was ready to be lulled back to sleep. HOW I WISH I KNEW WHAT HE WAS TRYING TO SAY!
Last but not least...this Sunday is Superbowl 42...YIPPEE! Our family and friends are sports fanatics, so Superbowl is considered a holiday to us. We have a large meal, decorations, celebrations, the whole kit n caboodle. Nevermind that none of our teams are actually playing...it is the Superbowl for goodness sake, the last football game of the season, new commercials, special performances, a day to eat and be merry. I hope that each of you have a wonderful weekend and be sure to tune in to the BIG GAME on Sunday!
Til next time...
