What a WONDERFUL weekend!

As I mentioned last week, Web and I took of Friday to take Vance to the doctor, get his one year pictures made, and set-up for his birthday party. The doctor's visit went really well...thank goodness. I mean, we always feel like our little guy is healthy but we are not certified physicians. Our pediatrician is amazing...a kindred spirit and true blessing to our family. Dr. K gave Vance a good report and even commented that he is a little bit above average with his speech. Vance knows close to twelve words...watch out now. While I feel that I have "some" lick of sense, I am positive that Vance's intelligence is coming from his daddy. Web is REALLY SMART...like obnoxiosuly smart and Vance seems to be following in his footsteps =). If I have not mentioned before, my husband is a High School Geometry Teacher. I mean, only "nerdy" people teach Math...right? Just Kidding Honey!!! Dr. K also mentioned that she would like for us to get Vance checked for Albonism. When you hear the word Albonism, you immediately think of the word albino, and that is exactly what it is. There are many levels/forms, and she thinks Vance might have the mildest form. She based her diagnosis on my sons beautiful brown, curly hair with one red patch and his two different eye lash colors. Our family believes he is unique, but we are going to wait to see what the experts say. Albonism is nothing to be alarmed about, at least the mildest form, so we are not worrying yet...just waiting.
On a brighter note...
Vance's pictures turned out PRECIOUS! He wore overalls, a flannel shirt, no socks, and took some good ole country pics with some of Web's old John Deere Tractors. How I LOVE living in the South. I will be sure to post some pictures when I get them back. For those of you out there who love getting pics made but don't necessarily want to pay an arm and a leg, JC Penney's Picture Studio does GREAT...at least here in Murfreesboro, TN!

Saturday was Vance's party and we had a FABULOUS time! We had the party in the sunroom of my grandparent's house (we are in the middle of building our new home now) and the weather was beautiful. Vance was surrounded by family, friends, gifts, a yummy cake, and of course LOVE! I sat in the floor with him as he opened his gifts and then it was time to strip him down and give him his cake. He loved having everyone sing to him and boy oh boy did he enjoy the cake. Once we got his hosed down from his celebration, sweet Vance had a sugar crash and slept for two hours. All in all it was a wonderful birthday! I look forward to many more to come, the exciting themes we will get to play with, and enjoying the growing up of our sweet boy.

Here are some pictures from the party!

Vance playing with the balloons on the mailbox. I KNOW it is a hazard, but he was supervised =)

Vance playing with one of his gifts...a book about TRUCKS! Yep, he is ALL BOY!
Covered in blue icing and happy to share some of his cake =)!

Til next time...

What are some adventures / themes you have had with your children's first birthday?
