Decorating Dilemma

Okay ladies...I NEED YOUR HELP!

I am not a decorator by any means and in the upcoming months I am going to be expected to decorate a brand new house. YIKES! Thankfully I have AMAZING friends like Lauren Fletcher who have AMAZING talent when it comes to decorating. PTL!!!

Here is my pickle...
Our new home has three bathrooms ;)! We have decided the color/decorating scheme for all of them except one. The one we are having "issues" with is the one that is across the hall from Vance's room and the guest room. This bathroom will more than likely be Vance's bathroom as well as any other children we might have as well as the main one company would use.

Do We...
1) Decorate/Paint it as though it would be used by our children

OR

2) Decorate/Paint is as though only adults/company would use it

I found this shower curtain at Pottery Barn Kids that I really LOVE! As my friends would say, it is me on a shower curtain. I just don't know! HELP!

ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

My vote is for a mixture of both. I think you can make something look fun and whimsical without making it look "kiddish". We have that same situation with Noah's bathroom and we used the same color scheme from his room, but it's not overly "kiddish". All he cares about are the toys in the tub anyway!! :)

I am with Rachel, I think a mix is the way to go. Plus, the shower curtain (that is SO YOU) really doesn't look "baby" or all kid... you can totally go whimsy (again, as Rachel said) without it being a total kid zone!! :-) So to sum up.... I could just say... "what Rachel said" LOL!!!

I agree - a mixture of both!

Do a mixture of both. Paint the wall a good neutral, get the shower curtain that you love, and try to find some kid-like accessories that don't cost a fortune that can be changed out.

I did just the opposite and totally "girled" up the hall bathroom that serves as the guest bath and Jancie's bath. I debated heavily, but I really wanted it girly.

I think it's fun to do a little of both, too. You can always make it even more grown up once Vance grows up. And after all, he's the one who will use it the most, so I think it's great to have it fun for him!

I decorated Evan's bathroom more adult-like, and I'm happy with it. I think that shower curtain you like is a great "middle of the road." When I look at it, I don't think baby or kid, but instead I think fun, clean, and cheerful. So, if you love it (I do, too), I say go for that one!

Great advice so far and I'm loving that shower curtain! Yes, I definitely think a mixture of both adult and kiddie style is the way to go! A great color on the wall, then you can mix and match accessories and change them out when you feel like it!

I'm just going to agree with others. Maybe a little of both will be nice and people will understand it is Vance's bathroom. How exciting!!!

Your shower curtain is cute.

I love that shower curtain. I agree with everyone else. I think you can make it fun and adult appropriate, too. I mean adults like fun too ;)

Do both....you can make it as adult as you want, but we both know it will be filled with bath toys, little wash rags and all that goes with giving a little one baths!!! I love the curtain and I think it would be perfect!

I tend to agree with everyone...and I love the shower curtain. HOWEVER...you know how I am about making a space YOURS. Which is why my kitchen is the color of a margarita and Dawson's bathroom is HIS bathroom...whether guests use it or not. The way I look at it, V is going to use it everyday as opposed to guests who will use it just few times. Why NOT make it all kiddied-out? That's who uses it!

Love the shower curtain and think that you can't go wrong with whatever you decide. It's your dream house and you guys will be the ones living in and using it every day. Have fun with it!

Do what YOU want to do. Guests are just going to do their business and leave, Vance and any other kiddies will be playing and washing their hands 800million times a day.

that shower curtain is way tooo cute!!! Use it!!! I'd pull some rockin' color from it for the walls - cute white towels with some kind of something monogrammed on them - lay down a great color rug and call it a day!!

But that is my opinion - and I'm still working on all 3 of my bathrooms as well {uhhh 10 months later!!} haha
