A little cake goes along way...

Take a moment to think about YOUR Birthday...
Are you the type of person who announces your birthday months, weeks, and days in advance just so no one forgets?! Are you the type of person who just casually lets your birthday slip by in hopes no one will remember?!

I think far too often we do not take the time to FULLY enjoy our BIRTHDAY! Hello...this is the day you were born, the day that God blessed the world with our presence, the day our parents and loved ones saw us for the first time. I am not saying we should advertise our birthdays on billboards or in commercials, but we should celebrate. If the people you love the most want to do something special for you (dinner, gifts, a party, cards, singing, etc.) let them. Afterall they are celebrating you, your life, and what you have done for them.

As a new parent and lover of birthdays, I plan to always make sure that Web and I do something special for Vance's Birthday. You probably won't see small animals or celebrities flow in (MTV Reality Shows! What are those parents thinking?), but you will find lots of love, lots of happiness, cake, ice-cream, lots of kids playing, and of course a present or two. My parents always out did theirselves for me, and I want to pass love onto our children.

What are all these posts about birthdays, you might ask? Vance's First Birthday is just weeks away, and Web and I are so excited. We have been letting Vance practice with all sorts of goodies. Cake being the best (my mother is a firm believer in "If a mess was not made, then it must have not been fun!) and definitely the funniest. Last night sweet Vance took his time exploring his small cupcake ~ touching, looking, smelling, and at last cramming it into his mouth. We can't wait to see what he does on his birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vance squishing the cupcake between his fingers =)

Alas ~ the cupcake makes it to his mouth =)
I hope that each of you will take the time to enjoy your birthday this year!
Til next time...

FYI, my birthday is March 21st - first day of spring :) And I've already been asking Brad what are we going to do for MY birthday???!!!
