Blessings Are Bountiful

It has been almost a week since my last post, and I thought it was time that I updated everyone on what is going on with my little familia...

As I mentioned in a previous post, Web and I are taking on the project of building a home this year. We are extremely excited and I am a little nervous. So far we have our land, our house plans, our builder, our loan application turned in (YUCK), a few things picked out, and for the moment our sanity =)!

Something that I have not mentioned before is that I HATE money...it is a necessary evil in my mind. What makes matters a little tricky sometimes is that my husband enjoys spending money. When we started dating he was what some might call a compulsive buyer. All that changed when I began doing the bills and budgeting our funds. Don't get me wrong, I love shopping as much as the next person, but I am a bargain shopper, coupon cutter, deal queen!!! I am also a firm believer in utilizing one's resources; aka...you should NEVER burn bridges b/c you never know when you might need someone's help.

Which brings me back to the build and the title of my post...

We are extremely blessed that we had almost six acres out in the country deeded to us! We are also blessed that I work for Habitat for Humanity and have all kinds of resources when it comes to building. We are very blessed that Web's father works for Haynes Bros. However, the truest blessing is that God has sent all of these people to us. You see, Web is a teacher and I work for a non-profit organization. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out we are not independenty wealthy. I mean, we do pretty good, but we are definitely warm and cozy in the middle class. It is our dream though to build a simple, decent, affordable home where we can continue to grow our little family. Hopefully God will continue to bless our home build as well as our family!
Speaking of family ~
Our little boy, Christopher Vance Hutchings, will be turning ONE on February 7th!!!!!!!! OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It absolutely blows my mind to think that our little man is almost one. I truly believe that if we can pause LIVE TV we should be able to push pause on our lives! Last night I was giving him a bath and as I looked at his sweet face I suddenly caught a glimpse of him as a toddler, as a young man, as a teenager, as a grown-up. Do not get me wrong ~ I am looking forward to what those years will bring, but it caused my heart to ache a little. I decided right then and there to breathe in every moment with him, with Web, with my family, with my friends, with my life.

We are definitely excited about celebrating his birthday though! We sent out invitations yesterday and even found a cute bakery to make his very first cake. I LOVE BEING A WIFE AND MOMMY! Just another blessing in this truly miraculous thing we call life!

Til next time...
