A Quiet Bathroom

Some of you might be reading the title of this blog thinking what in the world could she mean?

Right beside my bed I have a nightstand with all of the usual necessities; lamp, candle, phone, picture of our family, and books. Among one of those books is Chicken Soup For The New Mom's Soul. If you are a new mom this book is a MUST HAVE! Sometimes when Web is rocking Vance to sleep or I just can't seem to find my "happy place" I read a story or two from this book. If any of you have ever read ANY of the Chicken Soup books you already know they leave you warm, fuzzy, and inspired. That is why I love this one!!!

Last night I read a story called "A Quiet Bathroom!" This particular mother went on and on about how all she wanted for her birthday was four hours of uninterrupted time in her bathroom. She wanted to have some peace and quiet for a bubble bath, manicuring her nails, dying her hair, and reading an article from beginning to end. As I sat there reading this mom's story I wondered if I could or would ever feel this way. Vance is only ten months old and we have not embarked on little toys scattered about or tiny fingers appearing under doors. However, all I can think about is the families out there who would do anything to have four hours of interrupted time with a child and how I long each day for 5:00 when I go home to my son's smiling face. There is nothing better than walking in the door only to be greeted by a dog with a wagging tail, a husband with a smile, and a son pointing his fingers at you with this pure, innocent, love-filled grin! Those of you who may read this and have children please remember to count your blessings. Creating a life is truly a miracle!!!!!!!!

Til next time...
