I truly believe that words from the heart have so much meaning and that kids say the sweetest things! Last night Vance accidently shut his blanky (the yellow one in the pic) in the door. Once he got it out he proceeded to say, "Okay Blanky?" I love this kid!
In other words...
This past weekend we (Habitat) had our State Conference. For two days we attended workshops, listened to guest speakers, fellowshiped with other affiliates, and got renergized to change the world.
One of our guest speakers was a gentleman by the name of Tony Campolo. If you have not heard him before, I hope one day you get the chance. He had no notes but instead spoke straight from his heart. I wanted to write down everything he said b/c there was truth in every word he spoke. However, one story he told us stood out to me and I want to share it with you today.
A distraught woman visited the office of a dear friend. Her husband had left her for a younger woman and she had so much anger. Her preacher suggested that she do something spiritual instead of acting on her anger. She was independently wealthy so she decided to write to Mother Teresa to see if she could help her with her mission in Calcutta. One month went by and there was no response. A few more weeks went by and she finally received a hand written letter from Mother Teresa. This is what the letter said...
Dear Mary,
Go find your own Calcutta.
Love,
Mother Teresa
A five word sentence that speaks so much! It might be on a mission trip to Honduras, a clean up day in your local neighborhood, a donation to Breast Cancer, or even a tutoring session with a young student. Whatever it is, we all have something we are passionate about...our own Calcutta!!!
